As far as I know, only a summon with both your plate number and road tax number is considered as a valid summon. If MPPP summon, literally speaking, until you get a warning letter from them, you can ignore. If PDRM summon, literally speaking, you can omit to pay for 2-3 years, until the police show up in front of your door with a warrant of arrest.

Sometimes, it’s not our fault but it’s low responsibility of government. You may found inadequate parking at somewhere. My advice: MPPP should focus on the objective when issuing parking summonses.

Should We Sell Off US Dollar Now?

I am wondering, should we change our USD to MYR at this moment? Or should we keep and wait for the price to go up?

If you think USD will appreciate later, then just keep it. If you think USD will depreciate later, then sell it off now and you can buy it cheap later. I speculate that the dollar will appreciate in value somewhere near the future.

My view: Since it is 3.6 now, it isn’t a good idea to sell it off. For currency, it will never drop to zero because a country can never go bankrupt compared to buying shares. It depends on how much you bought your USD for. So, for now, just wait patiently for inflation to settle.

You are saying, the less advanced is a country’s finance, the less affected they will be to this credit crunch crisis. Malaysia being less advanced than US will be less affected by this crisis either.

Malaysia Road Tax Rates

This is the Malaysia road tax rates, which made with effective from 1st January 2007. Road tax rates have been lowered by amounts in between 0.6% to 33%. Although it’s a difference of only MYR10 to MYR20 but it at least can help to reduce citizen financial burden. Hopefully that the government can propose new road tax rates in the 2009 Budget.

The following table illustrates the road tax structure of vehicles that running on petrol & diesel for Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak:

They’ve set a fixed road tax rate for every 200cc of increase in engine capacity, so basically someone with a 1600cc engine saves more than someone with a 1401cc engine.

Someone said that our government is useless and brainless, or some of them, don’t even go to higher education. “What I know is some western countries imposing high tax for gas high cc engine is due to environment concern, not like our government first intention is to suck more money!” Haha…really funny!!
