Wrapping up 2022, Hello 2023

It’s that time of the year again! Everyone is getting ready to throw out the past year and start planning for an even better new year. 2022 was a great year for me: I got my better job, I got married, I won an iPad mini 6 worth RM2299, I saved a fair chunk towards my housing loan account, I learned some new skills and I would say I have become a lot wealthier.

I’m hoping that 2023 will be just as successful for me, and I have set out some personal goals for me to achieve to become a better me.

1. Spend more time with family
family time
Juggling the responsibilities of a job and a family is no easy feat. This year will be different as I am expecting to have my first baby. While I am adjusting to this new life, it’s important to give myself a little break and enjoy precious moments.

Being a dad isn’t about the destination, but the journey. Becoming a father for the first time can be one of the happiest times in my life, it can also be a very emotional and confusing experience. But, I will try to enjoy all that comes with it.

Not everything I do is going to be equally important, so I will learn to set priorities to better manage my time. My top priority is to create lifelong memories and see the little one growing from one milestone to the next.

New Year’s Resolutions for 2022

2021 was a year full of new challenges, filled with ups and downs. We’re living in unprecedented times. I hope that all of you’ve managed to overcome each hurdle and come out stronger and better.

When challenges arise, rise above them and embrace them with a positive mindset.

Career: Get my career in shape

In my case, after I lost my job working for a large MNC and growing on a fast track career, I made a decision to work for a small and medium-sized enterprise, hoping that my job will be more secure. This was a decision which was well within my comfort zone.

If you’re not quite where you want to be career-wise, then the new year is a good time to start fresh with something different. January is the perfect time to search for a new position, as although the competition may be high, I believe there are many employers with the same attitude as you, start the new year positively.

Instead of blindly applying to whichever jobs that pop up, I have set my career goals of identifying 25 to 30 companies that I would like to work for. This will help tailoring my applications and cover letters to specific jobs, which have a better chance of standing out as a candidate.

At every job you should either learn or earn. Either is fine. Both is best. But if it’s neither, quit.

New Year’s Resolutions for 2021

As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your patronage, reflect on 2020, and look ahead to 2021. This is the best time to review how the year went.

Self-reflecting is one of the best ways to maximize our learning, discover how we do our best work and improve our performance.

2020 will be unforgettable in many ways, yet I am sure we all would prefer to forget it.

I have come up with a plan on what and how I want to improve in the new year. I have broken my personal goals into 4 categories.

New Year’s Resolutions for 2020

There are resolutions you hear every year, usually those resolutions involve something along the lines of saving money or getting healthier. Anything you make is going to boil down to the same thing – Better yourself.

Don’t be like this when you’re making your new year resolution
My goal in 2019 is to achieve the goals I set in 2018 that I should have completed in 2017 as I made a promise in 2016 that I planned in 2015.

Now is a great time to identify new and existing opportunities to grow and get 2020 off to a strong start. For 2020, I have set some achievable goals for myself. Accomplishing these goals will bring myself professional joy and positive growth.

1. Make an Impressive Impact at Work

Make impressive impact at work

Being more productive often stands at the top priority list but actually finding the ways to implement it in everyday life is a different kettle of fish. However, I will try to be proactive about going after what I want and doing things without being asked. I will also make it a priority to work on my productivity by using a time diary to become more aware of how I’m spending my time now. Being more focused is also important as it can take an average of 25 minutes to resume a task after being interrupted.

My strategy focus is to:
UNDERSTAND where am I now.
IMAGINE where I could be.
CREATE my strategic move.

Dare to be different. Don’t settle for the ordinary.

My New Year Resolutions for 2019

The end of the year is a time of reflection and being grateful for what you have. It’s time to think about how you can be better. Be the change if you want to make you stronger.

1. Cut Down on Seminar Time. Earn More.

I do feel like my life is ruled a little too much by attending seminars and workshops. Committing to a few seminar-free hours each day might be exactly what I need to break my addiction. Cut down on seminar to make more time for earning extra income instead of wasting most valuable time doing low value work.

Earn More: Even billionaires are often looking for ways to earn more income, and we common folk can definitely use an additional income stream to make our life a bit more comfortable.
